Paul_Guraedy Sorry it's frustrating for you. I wish one of the other mods/powers that be could help you out with a little walk through via phone call or something.

I should have quit while I thought I was making progress in understanding this new format. I made the mistake of leaving WCI and coming back in. I made 3 posts this a.m. and not a one of them shows up until I go to that topic! Now I am more frustrated than ever.

I have finally figured out how to post and add photos. So I am visiting a little more often. But, only when I am resting between carving sessions.

I still am unable to put the replies to a topic in descending order. To get to new posts I have to wade through all of the old posts. Irritating and frustrating.

I know I can go to latest activity; but, I prefer to go through the forums, click on a category and refresh my memory of what is being posted there. Then click on the ones I would like to review. When they come up in ascending order and there are 3 pages of responses ─ too much for this old dog!

I am still making progress on the snowy owl but will not post until I finish the carving. Finding it and going through the pages of response, posting and then seeing snowy owl remain on the third page of that Forum......! Will just wait and start a new topic.

I agree with Tom-H! This new forum (designed by young techies) has way too many bells and whistles for us older folks to understand.

Paul, in the very beginning I had all kinds of problems where nothing at all seemed to be working. It turned there was something wrong deep inside my account that had to be rectified by the tech staff at WCI. Sounds to me like that might be the same sort of thing in your case. Ask magitern to take a serious look at your account settings.

Tom-H just said exactly how I feel. The new site seems to be better in many ways BUT even with the help of Claude I am unable to CONSISTENTLY post pictures. With his suggestion I've changed the way I edit, resize them all to the smallest size but when I try to upload some are accepted then some aren't for varying reasons. I will try to get one of my grandkids to physically show me what is going on. Takes longer to post than it does to carve, extremely frustrating!

Paul, I've come to the conclusion that designers of these interactive sites/forums should be at least as old as the users. I'm glad for this forum! It's still the best and has the best folks; but I'm old and my brain is to full of information learned from a long lifetime of learning. Not to much room for more! I like on and off and other simple commands. I'll master the necessary things here to let me post with/without a photo, view posts, and comment. That's about all I can handle....

First let me say that I really do appreciate the attempts you folks have made to assist me in comprehending this new system. I must say that in my efforts to post updating my work on the snowy owl ─ I believe this WCI will actually be an improvement.

I think I now understand how to view new posts. I have even found the correct location to make the filter button show all four windows (still do not understand why it shows the two windows in other locations).

However, when I finally found the 4 window system, I found a black dot in all four windows. But, no noticeable change in topics. I tried moving the ascending button and found the first non sticky post to ge Test by BobD 07-26-16. Progress? H__l No! the second post was Issue #1 Re-prints 04-05-2002!

Back to Decending button. Now first post is this one with Claude's yesterday 05:06pm. Progress? H__l No! The second post is Rating under avatar? posted by MichilleOH 08-04-16!

Back to Filter, click on replies instead of Date - last update. Now first post is Known Forum Glitches and Fixes with a post by BobD on 03-09-2015. Next post is 2009, third is 2001!

I looked for my snowy owl post, in each iteration, and it was still buried in all of these various views. So now, all filter black dots are still in the top position. Back to this topic, Nothing changed!

I have wasted enough time on trying to put this mess in order that makes it easy for me to use. I now know how to post and to look at new posts. That will satisfy me for now. I will occasionally check back into WCI and after Christmas (deadline for the commissioned snowy owl ─ on which I am behind schedule), and the depth of an Ozark winter ─ I will again attempt to get this WCI into a satisfactory format.

I see that asterisks appeared in place of one of my words. In my defense, many Cajuns view h__l and d___n as punctuation marks rather than cuss words. But, as the Cajun humorist , Justin Wilson, says about these words, "If I have offended anybody, I am deeply sorry and apologize from the bottom of my heart. Acutally I don't give a d___n!

    I'm outta here for now!

Paul: your screenshot shows that you are looking at the Latest Activity, not the list of posts that Michelle showed. In the upper left corner, you'll see two tabs: P o s t s and Latest Activity. Click on P o s ts and you'll see the same thing Michelle showed.

Paul: The "Filter" changes depending on where you are. If you are reading the posts within a topic, such as this one, Filter only has Time and Show. If you back out of the topic so you are looking at the list of all topics in a particular forum, such as Message Board FAQ, Suggestions and Feedback, and click on Filter, you'll see Time, Show, Sort By, and Order.

Ok, let me revise my statement a bit. When you get a list of new topics, the little blue box on the left of the topic goes to the first new post in the thread.

One way to keep up with recent activity is to click on New Topics. I believe this is updated whenever someone posts to a topic and not just when you start a new topic. Once you click on New Topic and get the list of topics, on the right side of the list will be the name of the person who made the last post. Click on the little blue arrow on the right and that should take you to the most recent post since the last time it was updated. Or at least, that's my impression. If you miss something, try clicking on Home that is part of the pathway listing at the top left. Then click on Latest Activity. This will give you a list of the most recent topics.

I see posts in order of latest activity, so I'm not sure why you aren't. Here's a screen shot I just took of New Projects and Works in Progress (WIP). Between your Snowy Owl and my Something's Fishy, there are posts that were started in 2015. You don't see it that way?
