If I do a Search within any forum for an old thread, it is found and displayed in the Search Results. But, if I add a new input to the discussion, it remains lost in old files. I would expect the new entry to show up at the top of the forum list. This may be key to restoring the accessibility to archival discussions.

Phil: I just did a test. I pulled up a post I made in 2009 about a little witch. Made a comment on it. I went back to the Forum Topics, refreshed (reloaded) the page, and there was the old post right at the top of the list in the Holiday Forum. You'll see two dates: The first is when the original post was made, the second one, over on the right, shows the last comment made (my new one)

Claude - In my test I did a Search in New Projects for the word "Nicaraguan." It brought up a thread I started in 2014: "Nicaraguan Mountain Village." I added a comment and photo with the idea of bringing into latest topics, but it didn't show.

I didn't see your thread either. I next searched for "Nicaraguan" and found it (2nd one down). I added a comment to it, then reloaded the NP-WIP page it was there at the top of the page. Do you see it now?

If I click on your avatar above, It takes me to your profile page. The Activities tab is the default, and it shows your test with the photo added as the fifth activity down. As to why neither of us could see it in the NP-WIP forum, that's a puzzle. My FaceBook Page: https://www.facebook.com/ClaudesWoodCarving/

This process will be important to restoring the full capabilities of this site. Unfortunately, the old photos in the threads are not brought forward with the text. The Senior Members who originated some of the topics and have the photos in their computer files may be able to illustrate the important discussions.

I tried to update an old post with a picture that got lost in cyberspace. I tried to add it to "Carver Carving" in the caricature section , but it just confused people. The original post from 2014 was on top and the pictures didn't show until the last page. I decided to just start another carving with a new post with an old picture. That seemed to work better.Don’t worry about old age; it doesn’t last.

It would be difficult for people to find all the old posts they had a photo in but maybe the simple way to deal with this is "by request." If you find an old thread and you want to see the original photo, you could reply to the thread by making the request. The original poster may or may not respond but that is their option.Last edited by Nomad; 08-08-2016, 12:32 PM.Terry

There are time limits on editing your own posts, but they are in minutes, not years.
