  • Old Eyballs

Maybe I'm the only one, but with my ageing eyes I find it difficult to read the standard default text on the forums. I just finished trying to read a couple of lengthy posts and gave up...it was too small to read. If any other old goats on here have the same problem, perhaps the admins would adjust to a large size and bolder font.

    Anyone with me on this?

If you are using windows I believe you can use the CTRL and + key to make the font larger and the CTRL and - key to make it smaller. I have no idea if this will work with Apple products. Hopefully this will help.

I'm with ya Arthur! Sometimes I can't even read with my glasses on! To make it easier for others to read, whenever I write a post I make the extra effort to change and enlarge the font before I type (as I see you do). If you notice, this message should be a bit easier to read than most. Perhaps more of us should try doing it.

it would be nice if the default font size were a bit bigger ( and bolder). I try to be like Bob K and make those adjustments before I write a post,...... but alas my memory is worse than my eyesight so sometimes I forget to do it....

I just had my eyes checked earlier this year and my glass prescription is up-to-date but like you I still have problems with reading fine print or looking at the computer too long. That's one reason that I try to remember to kick up the size of the font on my post to 20-22. I just figured if I'm having this problem then perhaps others are too.

The web browser you use should have something in preferences for this. I use a Mac, so I go to Safari/Preferences, click on the Advanced Tab, and then under Accessibility, I can indicate that I want to never use a font smaller than XX. Other browsers such as Chrome, Firefox, etc., should have a similar control. In Firefox, go to Firefox/Preferences, click on the General link on the left, scroll down to Language and Appearance, and click on Advanced. Half way down on the pop-up window, you can set the Minimum Size font.

Chrome browser can adjust the magnification and think Windows does also. But I empathize. Luckily had cataracts in both eyes removed and vision is "decent." When I had one eye blinded, my depth perception was horrible. I had to do wood burnings and somehow I was decent at doing it...but not in my mind. Now if they have a treatment for color blindness...I'll be perfect.

BTW, most forums have an adjustment for size based on the admins preferences. So, yes it should be able to be made bigger...text that is.

I agree, It is almost like some are trying to hide their text.

its everything i cant red the prescription bottle the iphone the direction on a can and when you go to the store i cant read the label its just people making the print smaller so they can cram information in a smaller space and save on ink and paper, old folkds or people with vision problems be dammed.

Arthur, if you are using Windows 10 you should be able to see 3 dots, click on them and select "Zoom" and set your text size to suit yourself. Hope this attachment helps

I bumped up the font size earlier today, font weight is either giant or like this. Would advise to not use any extra formatting except for maybe making it bold. Let me know how it's working for you.

Thanks Alex! Very helpful, I don't have to strain now...before I'd have to skip over lengthy posts.
