You have probably discovered that if you try to use the word "p-ost" (without the hyphen) in a message, it gets left out. I also found recently that the pound sign (#) followed by a number gets replaced by a word, so if you're trying to specify the sweep of a gouge like #3/16mm, check the text after you've typed it. If there was a space after the "3", the word "Blogs" would have been substituted. Other numbers produce other words. A preview of the text doesn't produce the substitution.

There are other key strokes that cause to cursor to jump to some other place in the text or erase a major block of the text. Sometimes you can recover a draft copy.

I saw that useless rubbish. Might have been a comment from Claude to write p0st to get past the software interference.

Thanks, Phil, for the heads-up. I just edited my p0st in the Beginners forum. I had to change and put a space between "#" and the "3" for the p0st to make sense.

Chuck - I've only discovered the keystrokes that put strange words in the final text. I'm still confused by the keys that cause the - - - (Oooh, there it happened. As I tried to type the word "cursor" it jumped to the start of the input and added some strange letters.) These text editors should not try to guess my intentions!

post cursor #3...none of these caused any problem with my text. I wonder if it depends on what settings you select on your computer or what browser you're using (I'm using Edge).

Not keystrokes, I have been messing with these things since the late 70's and even now ...... They are back.?? Oh yes on these automatic text setters, I think they are a virus there just to mess up our minds..

Yes, Arthur, I'm using Edge. The problem is very quirky. Differs on different interactive sites.

                      I think it's a vast Democrat/Republican (pick one) conspiracy!

Users outside the U.S. can insert the liberal/conservative/communist/fascist political party of choice.

Anarchists are accepting applications from all the above.

The hosting software has to have these "features" programmed in. Someone must know why. For users like us, it's just frustrating to have quirky things happen while we're just trying to answer someone's question.

I remember someone asking some questions and posting links, which all went to the front page, instead of the channel they were referencing. I've not seen that, but then I haven't tried to post links internally, here.

Another odd thing I've noticed on an irregular basis: Sometimes when I post, a duplicate of the post will be retained with the options of discarding or posting (again).

When using a link within a post, I usually go to the page I want to link to and copy the URL (highlight the address line in the browser, then type "Ctrl C" to copy it. Back at the post, do a "Ctrl V" to insert it in the post.
However, some sites are designed not to allow starting at the "back door," so the link may fail.

On a Mac, use "Command - C" to copy and "Command - V" to paste.
