  • Known Forum Glitches and Fixes

    Hi Gang,
Instead of having a bunch of different threads, I thought we should create one thread with all of the glitches and solutions.

    Two quick solutions I've found.

Log in: Go to this link: http://woodcarvingillustrated.com/forum/usercp.php

Usernames are case sensitive! Please e-mail me at [email protected] if the forum will not accept your username. It could be that your username is capitalized or all lower case.

    Glitches:
    No attachments from old site
    Smilies are funky
No avatar photos from old site
User name and title get funky when you upload an avatar
No New s link on main page
Publisher Feedback forum not working right
No navigation to bring you back to the forum home pages once you enter a thread
No "New Thread" buttons in different areas (ie. Woodcarving for Beginners, General Woodcarving, etc.). Must navigate through a drop down menu.

If you have glitches, please post screenshots as attachments, or e-mail to [email protected].

        Bob,
When I do that I get a menu overlaying my messages.
Every day should be unwrapped like a precious gift.

Thanks. Can you send me or attach a screenshot ([email protected])? Please include the URL bar at the top, and what browser, version, and operating system you are using. I don't have a bar at all on my Mac using Chrome.

Bob: At the bottom right corner of each thread is a link "Woodcarving Illustrated". Clicking this link will take one back to the main login page where the choices are
              Members and Magazines
              Woodcarving
              FAQ
Clicking the "Woodcarving" link will take one to the list of all the forums.

                Thanks Claude,
I was hoping to make one that's a little easier to find, and I was successful (see my post above).

Ah! Saw the new post and the today's posts (!), but didn't see that one.

New problem for you: Forum software is sizing all the uploaded photos as "small". Here's my test post: http://woodcarvingillustrated.com/fo...018#post642018

Strangely enough, I posted one several days ago that was 640 x 480 here: http://www.woodcarvingillustrated.co...st-of-new-site and it showed up larger...

Re: Known Forum Glitches and Fixes

thanks for the new topic , for commenting on the status of the forum. it is way at the bottom though, under faq and I bet most comments will still be getting put under regular topic sections. hard to notice your new one (specific for this) when it is very last on the list.
aside from that,, the community drop down list is working for selecting log-in. but the prominent one, the right hand column log in section does not work , inisists that cookies related are preventing me from logging in.

                        Denny:
I you haven't done so already, go over to that right column, at the top, and click on Edit Profile. You'll get a new screen that wants you to log in again. Do so, remembering to click on the Remember Me box. If you still get the error, you may have to go into your web browser preferences and set it to allow cookies for sites you visit (no third party).

Re: Known Forum Glitches and Fixes

question about profile photos. I guess they are different than the avatar photo.
I tried uploading one in my profile page. I thought I would see it (or later-them) on that page when I click the photos tab. nothing happens that way, there is a thumbnail photo of what I uploaded on the left side though, still thumbnail size.
uh, how does profile photos work, or supposed to work..?

Well, the good news is that WCI is still committed to providing a forum! Thanks! Your hard work is Much Appreciated. I know sooner or later the bugs will be worked out. To be honest, I'm in no hurry. Got lots of patience. I would not be a wood carver if I didn't. "Gotta have it now" is not how I grew up.

I looked, there is no "edit profile" listed. the main Large area on the right column for login still insists that cookies are a problem. I have checked my computer lots of times for the cookies selection and it appears to be set properly on my part. it seems it is the login section that has a glitch, (even selecting remember me) because the other method does work reliably. that being the community tab, drop down list, then click the log-in link.
