  • Suggestion for creating an Interim Sub-Forum

Using the Forum, right now, is confusing, frustrating, and irritating.

I have seen suggestions, from members, indicating how they have managed to accomplish some \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\"run- a-rounds\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\". The problem is that these are posted in the sub-forum where someone has tried to post, mentioned the problem and the \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\"run-a-round\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\" ends up posted there.

Would it be possible to create an interim Sub-Forum, where this information could be brought together?

A few problems that I have encountered: Even though I received several suggestions on how to work with notifications ── nothing worked. I even tried the empty folder thing to see what would happen. Then went to my profile, decided that I was not going to bother putting any effort here when it might requiring re-doing when the stable platform is instituted. Tried going back to the Community ─ got dumped! When used my WCI tile on Firefox, it took me to the page; but unlike previous visits, had to go through the logging in process again. Found that the empty folder had not emptied the folder! Tried clicking on some photos in posts ─ got nothing but a blank page. Saw where someone suggested using some outside program for photos ─ tried this type thing once and got into a hell of a mess. Won\'t\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ \\\\\'t go there again!

I think that this Sub-Forum could solve a lot of the frustrations many of us are encountered.

I cannot imagine that there is not a target date for full implementation of the new forum. Perhaps that should be shared with members and updates added occasionally?

How many slash marks are put in when an apostrophe is use? What a mess!

Paul: There is such a thread, started by BobD. It is in this forum and is KNOWN FORUM GLITCHES AND FIXES.

Thework-around for the apostrophe problem is to not use apostrophes. Not too much harder to write I am instead of the contraction... Notice that I used Italics and Underline to separate out my text, instead of quote marks...

        Claude:
I agree with Paul. A sub-forum with the thread: KNOWN FORUM GLITCHES AND FIXES posted, would be less frustrating than looking in all sub-forum for the thread KNOWN FORUM GLITCHES AND FIXES. If the search function worked...

Just the view from my moccasins.

Paul and I have discussed these problems privately, and we agree, the bugs are driving away some \"old hands\" on the forum. I visit much less often, contribute seldom, and enjoy the forum much less. I feel I have something to contribute, and very much enjoy the society of carvers, and hope to learn from others, but the new forum is wearing me down and driving me away. Sorry, but I miss the old form and it\'s welcoming atmosphere.

I had posted to facebook and decided that I would give the Forum another try.

It seems things are getting worse instead of better for me. Now I can\'t even start a new thread.

try this, back out to the topic section again, where all the threads are listed, and there find the button called forum tools. new thread can be found there on the list.

Thanks Denny, it worked. Any idea on how to enlarge the photos without downloading and enlarging?

are you speaking of enlarging the visible thumbnails posted here?

Yes, when I click to enlarge all I get is a dark screen and I can see the thread in the background.

Claude always does a right click on it and selects open in new window.

Re: Suggestion for creating an Interim Sub-Forum

It\'s a good idea, gang, but... as i said in another post, I\'m concerned about adding any new forums. I don\'t want to do anything to shift the information in the new database out of alignment with the old base. That could really come back to bite us when we go to bring over all of the attachments from the old forum. All the folks who were \"banned for life\" got that message because their information was shifted one notch with the import. Imagine what would happen if an entire section of information was shifted one notch...

I appreciate everyone\'s patience as we continue to work on this.

Thanks for the explanation Bob. This Forum is still the greatest asset woodcarving has going for it. We will claw our way over this bump and enjoy the smooth road somewhere ahead.

                              Bob,

Thank you for all you are doing to keep moving forward! And a thank you to Claude and others that are helping to make using the new site easier for the rest of us!

Sorry, I did not see your previous post on adding new forums. I understand your concern on data being out of alignment. I was a member of the transition team at a test site for moving legacy data to NMCI...I understand what you are going through.
