  • Ships, ships, ships!

As you well know, I have a passion for all things nautical, ships and the sea is my thing! This week-end I got to enjoy my passion, in spades. Our city hosted a Tall Ship festival, not the first but worthy of it's name. We had five Tall Ships visit us for the week-end, with music and dancing, plenty of liquid enjoyment and acts a plenty. I was invited to do a presentation for the Tall Ship Speakers Series, on The Shipbuilding Success on Beaubears Island, which went very well. After the talk, my wife and I enjoyed the spectacle of three of the ships leaving, under perfect condition and full sail. A nice breeze, clear skies and a warm sun. I thought I would share some photographs that I took of the occasion and a couple taken from a helicopter by a friend.

Seeing the Tall Ships is something you remember for a long, long time. I still remember seeing them many years ago when they came into Washington DC. What a sight. Being originally from KS I had never seen a big ship, let alone one of these magnificent Tall Ships. Yep, I'll remember for a long time. Just a WOW moment.
