On September 16 th there is a "Carve In" taking place at Sutherland Steam Mill Museum in Denmark Nova Scotia from 10 AM until 3 Pm, free lunch for carvers, chance to win a Lee Valley Gift Card ($50 Canadian funds LOL), everyone is welcome to come carve amongst the old mill equipment,shoot the breeze with the other carvers, if you are going to be in our area on this date we would love to see you

PS Nova Scotia is beautiful in September,the ferry from Portland Me to Yarmouth NS is operating,come join us

I am going to be teaching 10 kids how to carve a dog from Ivory soap, I could sure use your help

My technique using soap is to wet it down and then slowly remove layers by rubbing it on my body. I have a whole bunch of small elliptically shaped abstract soap carvings. Hope that helps.

Bruce - About 20 years ago I spent several weeks in Nova Scotia. Our main activity was kayaking - among the bays and islands on the east coast and on Bras d'Or lake. The locals were very friendly and helpful.

I think you are about due to return to Nova Scotia to see some of the things you missed first time around,having lived here almost my entire 74 years,I am finding places that I had not visited in all these years,the beaches on the Atlantic shore are some of the nicest in Canada
