  • Is it Spring??

Yesterday, Diana and I drove home from Springfield. We enjoyed seeing the saucer magnolia, mock orange, redbuds, plums and pears in full bloom. It was a little overcast ~ but, 62°F made up for sunshine. The jonquils, peaches and almonds have already dropped their blossoms. The fields are all green and Sunnie had mowed our lawn. Nice spring.

NOPE! Woke up this morning to 24°F, a wintry mix of sleet/rain and a sprinkling of snow last night. Probably scarce fruit and no almonds again this year.

Yeah winter won't let go of its grip here in northern New Jersey either. Still getting snow and we don't even have buds on our trees yet.

It's spring in Louisiana...Azaleas blooms long gone already, mowed the lawn a couple of times this season, seedlings popping up in the flowerpots, first tomato the size of a dime on the bush, temps in the 70s. Nice time of the year here, but the brutal summertime isn't far off, and the national weather service is predicting a high number of tropical storms and hurricanes this year, with the hurricane season beginning June 1st...C'est la vie!

Here in Oregon, we have a saying "Spring has sprung , Fall has fell, Summer went fast .........................>> didn't it?

Here it is 14 degrees with about 3 inches of new snow, supposed to warm up sometime today or maybe tomorrow. Good carving weather.

It is pouring cats and dogs and other things ....every day, flash floods watch again which is becoming a new normal. Spring is here. Hawaiian saying, “Ola i ka wai a ka `opua,” meaning “There is life in the water from the clouds,” further reiterates the wonder and respect with which Hawaiians regard rain. As well as bringing life and replenishing the earth around us, we see the symbolic ways that rain cleanses and ushers in new life within. So, as you can see, come rainy day or sunshine. Time to prepare for hurricanes..., since last year Texas and Florida got hit. Lots of new information on how to stay safe. ....they are finally telling us it will take over a month to get help, I double that.....we live in land of the lazy and we do not care what happens to you. That means be responsible and be ready for anything.

No. We get replays of winter almost every day. The referees can't come to a decision.
The only good part is that the sunshine floods my kitchen at suppertime again.

I'm down in the Central part of New Jersey and there are buds on the trees here. The flowers are starting to bloom and the critters are on the move. Saw a couple of hares and I have a bunch of robins, bluejays, and I have even seen a cardinal. So, yeah it's Spring but I guess Ol Man Winter isn't ready to give in yet.

9:30 am here on the south coast of Nova Scotia and the snow is Just starting to fall (again...) The forecast is for 12cm (5 inches) , but the bad news is it will be accompanied by 40-50 mph north east winds. Good thing I still have a large supply of basswood and a nice warm basement to carve in.......... let 'er come, there ain't nothing we can do about the weather.

Heavy winds a couple days ago, pushed the lake ice over the ice boom so the Niagara River is full of ice, Hoping for no ice jam that would cause the island we live on to flood. OK so far but we need some warm weather to melt this ice.

Soggy, I think the problem is that you get up too early. If you stay in bed long enough, that will all be gone. I'm thinking of getting out the lawn mower today.

If you were in Wayne's world, that would be a lawn mower with a snow plow blade instead of a grass blade.

Sorry Paul, I just can't feel sorry for you as we are still in our long winter here and had several additional inches of fresh snow fall yesterday. Dammit I still have 4 feet of snow on my front lawn, so I guess cutting grass is out for another few weeks! LOL
