  • pain and injury, and carving.

Three days ago something major slipped in the right hip, which meant major pain and no leg to walk on...... I was in the middle of dragons face details. So this meant major medical changes....with walkers and wheelchair and crutches dragged out of the closet. Fact, that I can not sit on a chair has begun the creative process of how to carve in a semi laying position. Which is a process? But I am determined to beat this issue and continue to carve. My refusal to undergo any more bone replacement.....for a ton of reasons...means to deal with it all. Not a happy camper about it all but,... it is what it is. Could be worst I could be on the big island with my land and trees barbequed and picking glass hair flying in the wind out of my eyes and hands. All I know about medical issues,..... the worst is just sitting around fretting about it .... is the life that I refuse to live in. So carve on even though I am now slower than a turtle......

This is really dark news. I hope you find some healing process and that nothing is really broken.

Well. the skeleton may have deserted you, but your fighting spirits has risen again. So sorry to hear, but if you are like me, carving is my biggest pain and stress reliever. I'm would say that I'm a junkie when it comes to carving anymore, so I know somehow, someway you will find a way to relieve your pain by being able to turn your very talent skills loose on your project. Just wish I had some sage advice to offer up.

I'm sorry to hear about your hip issues. We are all rooting for you. Hopefully, things will get better - you have a good spirit about it and that is most of the battle. Keep us posted. We'll try to avoid bad hip jokes like this, https://i.pinimg.com/736x/a6/0d/bc/a...-dysplasia.jpg

Actually, this is what I think about one too many bone replacements that do not work on osteoporosis. These surgeons just love to do surgery anyway.......

Both Diana and I suffer from skeletal pain. Due to other health problems, mine cannot be repaired. Diana is awaiting shoulder and knee surgery. Interestingly, in a discussion with an orthopedic surgeon we were told that the human skeleton was not designed for walking upright. Upper-body weight is carried on only a couple of vertebrae. I guess this is just an effect of hanging around too long and getting old.

Sorry you have to cope with this Di ! We will keep you in our prayers. I do not know your issue with the hip, replacement may not even be a option but for what is worth I have had both my hips replaced and both have work out really well.
