New lease on life
Now it can be told ...
Five years ago, on Thanksgiving Day, I took my first chemo infusion after a diagnosis of non Hodgkins lymphoma. It was a doozy. This past Monday, I had my five year checkup at the oncology center. The doc said "Honk, you are not qualified to come visit us any longer. You are hereby expelled from the program." I personally think of it as a graduation rather than an expulsion. But whatever .... whoooooopeeeeeee!
I kept family and close friends aware of my situation through a wonderful website called CaringBridge.com . I have looked forward to the day when I could communicate in the same way but without the overtones of impending doom that CaringBridge unfortunately sometimes conveys -- it is, after all, a forum intended for folks who are in poor health. So, six months ago, in anticipation of this event I started work on a personal website / blog to replace my CaringBridge journal. I launched it yesterday and I invite my fellow whittlers and carvers to visit it. At least a third of the stuff there is related to whittling my "Doodads". Come visit. Feel free to explore. I'd love for you to register so you can leave comments, but you can also just lurk if you like.
To get there, take the username I use here, type it into your browser address bar, add ".com", and there you go. If you register, be sure to mention that you are one of the WCI forum folks in case I don't recognize your name right away.
Happy Thanksgiving to all!
