Some people are cooking reports of 120 degrees in Australia, some are sitting at 27 below zero and snow. We are having a winter wind meaning gust of over 40 miles an hour which means trees and roofs go flying. It is cool here...and the arthritis is having fits at 65....wrapped in a fuzzy blanket and drinking hot drinks.... What is happening at your home?

This is stay at home week, don't be stupid week and bravery is a failing.

Big snow coming from the west this afternoon.
Expected to stack up against this side of the Rockies for 48 hrs, we expect 12" snow or more.
Won't be cold, mabe 25F/-5C and not too much wind.

THEN, a stab of actic air will drop the temp to -30C for a few days.
That is hazardous, dang cold carving indoors weather.

I'll hold the house at about 68F with an electric heater for the room I'm in.
Flannel lined blue jeans are the order of the day.

Cold and windy here in Kansas. High of 25 yesterday with 20 mph winds...today we will see 40, and it feels like a heat wave! Supposed to be 60 this weekend.

Our drought is broken here...8-10 inches of rain last October and several more inches since then have us wet, wet and wet. Not used to that at this time of year. Glad we are not getting what the upper Midwest is experiencing with wind chills.

Colder than stink out there this morning, -15F (-26C) here with a wind chill of -35F (-37C). Then by Monday we are supposed to climb up to 50F (10C). Crazy.

Colder than stink- so cold you can't smell stink?

We are in the same boat here on the frozen shores of Lake Erie. 'Lake Effect' system has spent the last three days dumping 8+ inches per day, roughly, not that you can tell because the 25 MPH winds pick it up and toss it here then there then right in your way. Temps just below 0, wind chill makes it feel like -20 or so. Disabled the thermostat program day before the storm hit, let the house get warm and stay that way. REEEEALLLLLYYY glad I replaced the boiler in August!

40 degrees forecast for Sunday through Weds next week. Hard to believe.

I remember this.....when you are outside and it is 21 below zero getting wood for the stove....and your nose holes are frozen from the inside out.....while your body sends out major red flag warnings....you do not smell stink. LOL

The winter storm warning might actually be right on time.
Warm and melting but the right-to-left snow flakes have started.

Cold and windy here tonight, at a balmy -20 C (wind chill -30 C) and about 18" - 24" of fresh snow on the ground, with a base of another 18" below that. Not bad for the last day of January, I do recall a day that we had a truck brakes let go and it rolled down the hill into a laboratory at a mine I was working at outside of town, it was -40C/-40F that day. So, a typical winter in Northern New Brunswick, Canada.

I had to wait to today to get some help - working two crowbars lifting and our Son stuffed 5/8" foam rope under the footing of my observatory for my telescope. The "flat" concrete is smooth like glass but has some thin pockets of water when rain hits it. Hope the foam will make a good seal we are expecting 9 days or so of rain. Give me a break. I need work days moving and engineering that fool out of that place. Once the rain is gone - clear black skies and I won't be there yet. Rats. Martin

The low in Southern New Mexico 51 this morning high of 61 today, with mostly clear sky’s. This is the exact reason I left Nebraska tired of cold, ice, snow in winter. Bad summers high humidity, tornados and high temps with the humidity. We have been very blessed in the desert.

PS still have friends and family in Nebraska and visit every year.

Mildest Winter we have had that I can remember. Been here 63 yrs. They say we might get snow on Monday. It is Feb, so let it snow! Temps have been in the mid 30's most days the last couple months, sometimes even a sunny 50* day happens. Anyway, starting to plan this years garden. I will be starting a few plants indoors soon. Reading about the bitter cold some of you are experiencing. It sounds terrible! Be careful out there..
