I got up this morning around 6- cloudy, no snow on the ground, temp below freezing. by 9 am we have arouond 2" of snow on the ground. they say around noon the temp will rise through freezing and we will have 'wintry mix'- for those of you unfamiliar with that term, it means yucky, just stay indoors. By drive time tonight, we should have near 40 degrees F and have had enough rain to melt all the snow.

    Welcome to Buffalo.

If we moved to Nevada for its dry climate, boy are we getting disappointed. The past three years have been wetter than normal, which is about 7.4" annually. So far this year we've had 6.13" at the Reno Airport. We live about 75' from the Truckee River. Yesterday it crested at 12.6' about a mile west of us (flow is to the east) & we have Longs Creek that runs into the Truckee about 1/8 of a mile from where we live. This creek is normally dry, dry dry. Yesterday it was up to the bottom of the bridge crossing it. That 12.6' crest is compared to ±4' for this time of the year.

Well, if we go as we usually do, it will dry up for the spring, a great season for growing cheatgrass with all the winter moisture & a great fire season for the next six months or so.

920x920.jpg Nonstop rain the last few weeks, is causing one of three top highways into the city to be closed. The Pali road is collapsing onto the Highway.....and landslides are continuing.....these rocks did fall onto cars yesterday. We have lots and lots of trees flipping over roots and all. Lots of flash flooding occurring in the lower islands as major storms continue throughout the islands. We got snow on the summits.

My hearth goes out that have to deal with deadly extreme weather, hurricanes, tornadoes, landslides, wildfires are scary! Here in New Hampshire we don’t have many natural disasters(I hate calling it that) but we do have some crazy weather at times. We’ve had a few -30 days here this winter and I’ve been out skiing on loon mt with a wind chill around-60. We are about 40 miles from my Washington which has the worlds worst weather. There’s some pretty cool videos up there at 175mph. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=F36WalK8dQ0

We live on the west side of a 1,500 feet above sea level peak, it seems like we get an extra 3-4” every storm. We had -25 last week and looks like we should get that again this week. I’m definitely ready for spring. Mud season should be bad this spring. I’ve got over 4” snow banks in my driveway, we got 6” last night I’m wife is ready to start her seeds for the garden, she might need to hold off a few weeks

it was so cold here this morning that when i was outside, my shadow froze to the ground and i couldnt move. I had to forcibly rip it loose before I could get going.

It melted on the street today in the sun. The snow on the Burb floor mats was melting.
The Chickadees are chasing eachother through the spruce trees ( first day this year).
Expect to hear the Ravens talking again, it is March.
All-time record cold February all across western Canada. Not by just a little, 4-5C 8F colder.

Dileon: landslides really give me the creeps. Ugh.

Air conditioner on in house and office. Drying out and cooling off - Got to 78 or 80 today with thunderstorms and a cold front. It is 59 at the moment. 10pm. Expected a service guy to fix our thermostat - no show. Our heater is oddly working - So wood in the early a.m. and bundle up. TV heats the room after a while. Usually not there that long. Tough when heat pump and heater wires both are used with the heat pump a ball of ice.

The weather really did change 3-4 days ago. Melting every day now. Maybe snow flurries but they melt.
Never more than 36F or so. Certainly not 30F below like was the month of February.
Still, I'm not dumb enough to put my Carhartt coats away until the very end of April.

I despise Daylight Savings Time. How stupid.
Our government is asking WA, OR, and CA of we should just stop this nonsense, once and for all.
West coast = all the same, that's how it is. How complicated is it?

Winter continues here in Northern New Brunswick, we have had a dandy this year, a level 4' of snow in the yard, with banks up to 20' high where the plow cleans up the roads. Here our grandchildren are slogging through the snow from the school behind our home after school. We babysit them several afternoons a week while their parents work. The temperatures are moderating during the day to around -5 C or - 10 C, but still drops to -20 C at night. That speck in the foreground of the first pic is the top of our outdoor fireplace, about 4' high.
