    The things we do for our kids/grandkids! You did a great job, and I hear ya when you say about the practice pieces, have been there and done that, we should stick to carving.

    Perfect choice and approach, Randy. The "Money Box" is very attractive. I've always liked poplar, but never carved it. Regardless, it all came together fine.

    Hi Bill. The box is poplar. The lid insert and base bottom are pine. Finished with spar urethane and three coats of paste floor wax.

    This is what I call a money box. I am sure there is another name for it. My grandsons fiance ask me to make a box for their wedding. I should have said I just carve. But I didn't. I am not a cabinetry maker as you can see. It was my first box joint box and I will not tell you how much lunber I went though to get the right fit. Or the best fit I had time to do. Over all it does not look bad. From now on I am just a carver when people ask.
