Thanksgiving a time for Gratitude

But in truth, there has never been a better time to be genuinely thankful than this holiday season, we that arrive in the middle of a wrenching ongoing two-year global pandemic. In fact, we are uniquely poised to feel profound gratitude because of our tough times.

If any parallel is out here, it is to those who grappled with the Great Depression. That generation faced a decade of long hardship so profound that it forged a lasting appreciation for the value of hard work and simple pleasures, both enshrined by the craftsman, and artist of the times. This is what this year has given me...hard work and the simple pleasure of life. My gratitude is deep for the house out of the weather, the food on my table, and those who are still living....and my cats who keep me company. My workshop and art studio kept me sane, in a rather insane time.

Hopeful you will share your gratitude, thoughts, and grant you a peaceful time this holiday season. I want to say I major...appreciate this time on this forum, the laughter, the sharing, people helping people ... are priceless in times like this. Thank you for your sharing, your woodcarvings and more. Really darn good people on here.

I have a loving wife (she surprised me with a set of Pfeil chisels many years ago based on a small comment I had made), a 27 year old son who recently got engaged, and a beautiful daughter who is nearly two years into college, majoring in chemistry, who has straight As except for one A-. I have been employed with the same company for going on 33 years and have a nice home. For all these and countless more reasons, I am truly thankful and blessed by God.

It's easy to get wrapped up in self-pity as you can always see people that you think have it better. I try to be introspective and focus on my own life. In the grand scheme of things, I know that I have it better than I deserve.

I pray that all have something for which to be Thankful this year.

It certainly has been a testing time for all with the covid issue but we came out of it with camaraderi and good spirits and found ourselves smiling at what all the others on the forum had done to follow their asperations and share what they know so that others might reach theirs. And that is what life is all about.

That is something to be thankful for. My thanks to all who contribute to the forum to make it the great community that it is to belong to.

I know not everyone on this forum celebrates Thanksgiving, but I was wondering when was the last time that the whole world shared in something like "wearing masks". That is pretty unique when you think about it. I too, enjoy this forum and all the great people on it, thank you Di for reminding us to give thanks. I'm thankful for my son, moving in to help me out and my second old dog, adopted recently and sleeping in front of the fire place.

I am Thankful for the Closeness of my Family , all within 1/2 Hr.. I am also Thankful for joining this Forum back in 2006 and meeting so many good People that I call Friends thru the years . Happy Thanksgiving Day, all!
I'm thankful for my wife of 54.5 years - I'm surprised she puts up with me.
I'm thankful for still being alive. I was exposed to Agent Orange in Vietnam, and have had a quad bypass, prostate problems, and a pacemaker/defibrillator installed.
I'm thankful for all the friends I've made through this forum.
I'm thankful for a bunch of other stuff as well.
