My ambition is like the world right now, ....all over the place. My ambition is to do art but I have to survive so it is on the back shelf these days. One thing is clear I could use a break but can not afford one in all ways. Contented is an overrated word in the middle of chaos. I get up in the morning and keep on doing what I do not want to do but have to ...your not going to see me with my thumb in the dam quoting this is not happening. Tons of things happening locally and in the world...and your head is turning in all directions saying what the heck? I triple-question everything.
I rather sit under the lychee tree with my cat Kiki, at three PM every day we go out of the house, and stare into space into the trees of the mountain that bloom with flowers for an hour... the only time I feel somewhat normal. I find myself today replacing my ambitions with major changing and bending with the wind in whatever happens next.
Meanwhile, someone gave me four very old machetes that appear to be darn good steel but that were major rusted. I can use them, clean them up, and one of them will be changed into a long-handled sword. So my wind bending today is about getting those babies up to power. Do I call it ambition, nope just showing up and trying to be neutral and open to anything and everything.. Explore! Dream! Discover!” aloha Di

I know how you feel, Merle, at least a little. I built a temporary partition wall in the dining area yesterday (no bedroom available) so my soon-to-be-homeless younger brother wouldn't be living on the street. He's disabled, and SSI came back with paying him enough to live on, just last Friday. As soon as he saves up some money, he can move on.
Half a day of that, and my tail was dragging! I used to be able to do more, but Uncle Arthur is creeping up on me, plus anemia. Just gotta keep trucking along...

Hang in there Merle, All it will take is for you to see another picture of an eagle, and you will be off on another project. Can’t wait to see it.If I took the time to fix all my mistakes, I wouldn,t have time to make new ones.

My ambition is like my depression. It comes and goes at will. Best thing for the ambition is to pick up a knife and start making chips. Basically the same cure for depression. Go for a wlk or get on a bicycle. In other words, "MOVE!" It'sx the perfect definition of Newton's first law of motion. "An object at rest stays at rest and an object in motion stays in motion with the same speed and in the same direction unless acted upon by an unbalanced force." Objects tend to "keep on doing what they're doing." In fact, it is the natural tendency of objects to resist changes ..." Of course sometimes it's hard to remember you're there to drain the swamp when you're up to your booty in alligators! 54f9628368618f700992f9a609e76a3300c9f260c65264e07cfb82b13cc55c54.jpg

Merle, the French have a word for it (as usual) - for what you're experiencing: ennui - pronounced "On-wee." I have it too. My "Still Life & Street Scene" project is just across the room from me - and the tools. I keep getting distracted with yard work or national events. Blah, blah

When I think about it, ambition and contentment are not polar opposites, not mutually exclusive. To me, contentment means realistically realizing your limitations and adjusting your ambitions to fit within those parameters, with acceptance and appreciation for the possible instead of mourning for what cannot be. In other words, the "glass is half full" attitude.
