It was the broken windows and busted back door that was most concerning. My neighbor helped me secure the place. They trashed the inside. I followed the advise of many and this is what happened. Luckily they didn't steal any of my sculpting tools. Looked like they were playing darts with them embedded into the wall. I wonder if I should get ready to evacuate with the next one coming through.

Probably kids. Anyone with any knowledge would likely realize how much those tools are worth. This leads me to consider theft prevention for my tools. One chest I purposely built without handles, as it weighs 50+ pounds empty.

        Hi Falla
Sorry to hear of the break in. Pity you can't booby trap the place when you need to leave it in these situations. But then they would all be crying that you are the bad guy.

Best line from a movie when they shot a cop killer ever was "why did you shoot him 48 times. Because we ran out of bullets"

Need more people like that hehehehe.

Hey Soggy be safe...looks like Hurricane Lee is heading your way. Maine, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia may face more direct impacts, with winds in the higher-end tropical storm to low-end hurricane range. A storm surge, especially east of Lee's center, could affect Nova Scotia. Heavy or even flooding rains may be an issue, too, and rip currents and rough surf are guarantees

Yup!.... you're right Di,.. looks like I'm located about 25-30 klm east of the predicted landfall. Lots of wind and rain headed our way for sure. We tend to get a lot of wind up here in the winter months, but it's different then,..... the trees have shed their leaves by that time and the ground is frozen, so not many trees are blown over. This time of year it's a whole different ball game,.... the trees still have all their leaves so they catch more wind, and the ground is not frozen so it offers little support. I expect there will be multiple power outages from the fallen trees.
I've got my generator all gased up and ready to go ( hoping I won't need it )

Sound like you have things as prepared Soggy. Looks like you may be on the right side so it will be a wind wet mess. We will have your family in our prayers. It is good homes up there are built for heavy weather. Be safe.

I've got my generator all gased up and ready to go ( hoping I won't need it Our house is very close to the shoreline, but it's 15-20 ft. above the regular high tide mark and we are located in behind a large point of land that will shield us from any ocean surf )
You are very near the ocean....alot closer than me and I am at 37 foot above sea level. I do worry about the worst case ...storm surge and high tide which will wash the water levels very high and very high waves on top of the surge hitting my house. This is very possible if you get hit just right. I hope you have an escape plan just in case the worst-case scene hits. If it rains like cat and dogs ...ground gets water log and the wind with leaves on the trees get knocked over worse than without leaves...pulled out of the ground like a gaint grabbed their tops and pulled them like a weed. I have found out especially this year expect the least likely thing and if it happens, to have various game plans. Good news about this one ...I like you do not worry about a Cat 1 that much. Been watching overseas hurricanes ....they flooding places that have never been hit before. So we need to be on our toes these days. It is the darn outrageous rains that seem to be causing chaos. as the rain drains into the ocean from urban and small streams. Anyway take care, be safe. Will be watching and thinking about you...LOL One person on here said they have life jackets...it was a thought but then ....I was thinking I do not want to be floating in the ocean with sharks chewing on my legs...rather drown. forget the life jacket Di.

Well it's the day after and Hurricane Lee has passed through and is headed up towards the Labrador Sea. The forecasters were dead on when it came to pinpointing the location of it's landfall, but highly exaggerated as to it's intensity. We had 4 1/2" of rain causing some minor flooding for a few, but nothing serious, here where we live. A lot of communities did loose power due to falling trees, but here again the area that I live in did not see so much as a flicker. There is a weather station located just east of here ( approximately 20 klm from the landfall center) and the highest recorded gust was 110 klm, so all in all it turned out to be not so bad after all.

That is great Soggy. Glad it was not what it could have been. It is always a relief when that happens.
