I'm a firm believer in Mozilla! I have been using it instead of IE for about 2 years now and have had no problems at all!

        Re: #@*&%$!!!!!!! Computers!!!!!

Norton, for some reason, takes up to 50% of the comp's CPU resources just to update or do something equal to that - and it does it a lot. I swapped for Avast, for all my company's computers. For 3 years, it's also third the price of Norton - and there's also a free version, which I guess is just as good as the commercial. What convinced me was, when I first installed my first trial version of Avast, it performed a boot-time scan! That ensures there won't be anything left of any harmful software whatsoever. I've had Avast for about 6 months and no complaints.

Hey guys, I have PC-Cillin like some of you however, I also use AVG Anti-Spyware as well. I have not really had any severe problems as of yet. I try to keep everything updated and my web guy told me to defrag, run anti-virus scan and AVG Anti-Spyware scan at least once a week wether I need it or not. I normally do it on the weekend.

I know that there are a slew of anti-virus programs out there and everyone has their favorite but like I said, so far this new one that I've tried, AVAST, seems to be working pretty good, and best of all, the home edition is free! It, coupled with my new internet accelerator from NETZERO has more than doubled the speed of loading of internet pages.

Free antivirus - avast! 4 Home EditionAntivirus package available free for noncommercial home users.

Download free virus protection for Windows PC. Avast offers modern antivirus for today’s complex threats. Fast, simple, and 100% free. Try it today!

                Re: #@*&%$!!!!!!! Computers!!!!!

first of all, I know nothin bout computers. They're just typewriters with a TV screen as far as I know. At least that's the way I feel. I just bought a new HP all in one machine (all except fax). Hooked it up, followed everything it said to do to install. Next thing I know my computer was taking 15 minutes to boot up. The first time I tried to scann something it wouldn't work. I checked around the various screen and found out that the install program was repeating itsself as soon as it was through installing. Before I realized this, I had 17 installations of the same hardware. Additionally, Macaffee aol virus scann keeps on scanning until I perform a manual computer crash.

I am not askin for any assistance! I have a better way to fix it. I am thinking about have an on line destruction of both the copier and the computer. What I mean is, everyone who is frustrated with their computer can send me $5 and I will take their frustrations out on my computer and copier. This will entail one smack with a 4 pound mallet per $5.

Actually, I have to wait till my geek son-in-law visits to fix it.

I had Norton for several years, renewed over the internet and thought I was covered until I started having problems...I called them and got a "tinkyuberrymud, for to be calling norton!" anyway, this clown tells me I am not covered because my norton isn't up to date...I said thats funny, norton hasn't had a problem collecting money every year for an update! anyway long story short....good by "tinkyouberrymud" and norton lol

I guess coming from a computer background, I don't see those kinds of problems.

But sometimes I think computers are the "ANTI CHRIST"

                        Re: #@*&%$!!!!!!! Computers!!!!!

I'm certainly no computer wizz but on the advice of those in the know I installed AVG as opposed to all the other virus scans ( I was having a bunch of problems with viruses,,trojan horses,,worms ,,bugs etc. ) an since then this has cleared up everything with no problem. I had been using Norton,,and it didn't catch half of what this does,,nor cleaned them out,,and this was free! My computer is so much faster now.
Norton missed 3 trojan horses,,,this found them. Man,,,what a difference! No more wierd messages,,bookmarks that dissappeared,,pages that took long to load,,,all cured! Haven't had a problem since,,good,,'cause I don't know how to fix them.

So, I guess the way to go is to remove Norton, restart the computer, and then download the free AVG software?

I would suggest downloading the free AVG first....otherwise for a short time you are vulnerable...it happened to me once! Also make sure you are getting the free AVG...there are some copy outfits that say its free, but then charge you...been there too!! liars and thieves everywhere anymore!!

Try www.grisoft.com and look for the Free edition.
I have it on 2 PCs and 2 Laptops. No problems. Might have to uninstall Norton first and if so do a full uninstall, then immediately download the AVG free anti-virus software.
