Re: How do you Keep your Shop Clean?

Sometimes a broom and dustpan; sometimes my shop vac. I can't let it build up because it's in the basement of my townhouse and SWMBO doesn't like wood chips tracked throughout the house. Also, the workbench is near my downstairs refrigerator with the beer in it, and I sometimes go to get a beer while barefooted - which can be painful when the floor is covered with wood chips...

Right on Jim. "clean shop" sounds like a woodcarvers version of pull my finger.

The best way that I have found to keep a clean shop is not to carve.

It depends on where the door is to your shop, north or south end. For me , I wait for a Sou West wind, open the windows and doors and get out my leaf blower, and blow the dust outside. Vacuum cleaner blowing works just as well.

I try to allow 20 minutes for clean up when I'm in the shop. I said try it doesn't always work.

Those are all good, But me I get out the shop vac and giver the once over, I like a somewhat clean shop too and prefer my tools be put back in there place, when done for the time being. My kids always ask when they go into the shop dont you ever get it dirty dad, looks like you never go out to work in it.

I know it's time to clean my carving room...when I can't get in my carving room...
or I can't find all my tools...

I know it's time to sweep the shop when the cat starts using the wood chips for kitty litter! That seems to keep me sweeping regularly.
