Wade- Sorry to change this off line subject but. I was wondering about your sons plans. I know they made it out of New Orleans ok but was wondering about their plans to return or not. I also wondered how they are coping. Just Curious RonQuestion

Re: Wade Whats in the Future?
Hi Ron,
Thanks for asking.
Ocean, our youngest, went to Shreveport, then Dallas, is now in Atlanta and should be here in Port St. Joe, FL tomorrow to stay about a month with us. He's single, just him and his 11 year old Rotweiler. He's an Artist, makes/made good money at it in New Orleans. Lost maybe $100,000 in art supplies and related items including a brand new Giglee (sp) printer...does art prints for signed lmtd. editions. No insurance. Water still in his house as near as we know. He'll probably go to NYC in a month and live with his twin brother, River, who's a fashion photographer...takes pictures of pretty girls for a living...just had a set of his work in ads in Vogue and Elle magazines.
Walt, our oldest Son, is a Tattoo Artist, has lived and worked in New Orleans for several years, just got a SBA loan to start his own shop/business. He was supposed to sign a lease the day after the mandatory evacuation. Walt and his girlfriend evac'd to Memphis, called a friend who has a shop in Atlanta to let him know he was ok, the friend said,"get here now. You start work Monday. You're staying with me until you find your own place!" Walt said, "OK!" So he didn't hardly miss a beat.
Our Daughter, Prairie Wind, lives in Portland, OR running an art supply business, and has shipped enough art supplies to us to get Ocean started again.
Both of them lost everything they owned in New Orleans. The water was 13 ft. deep in their houses. We're just thrilled they got out alive!
We had Folks at our Auction tonight that had never evacuated Mississippi before for a storm, did this time to protect their pets, and had 30 ft. of water in their home. Their house was gone. The tree in the front yard with the swing was still standing, swing and all. Their next door neighbor was also found in their yard, drowned, about where their front door used to be. They're not going back.
Again, thanks for asking!

Re: Wade Whats in the Future?
Wade I'm so sorry to hear details of their loses, but I know how grateful you must be that they are all alive and well.
Your children have beautiful names, and what creative endeavors to spend their lives working at! Creativity didn't drop too far from your family tree.
I am glad your children are some of the fortunate ones who have family and friends to stay with. We will keep them in our thoughts.

Re: Wade Whats in the Future?
Thanks everybody.
They're doing fine. Our youngest Son, Ocean, just arrived here yesterday evening, to stay with us a little while and re-group. It's the first we've seen of him in a year...his Mom has been on pins and needles waiting for him to get here and make sure he's alright! It's been like she couldn't rest until she hugged him. He's doing fine, a little more serious and tired than we've ever seen him, but he'll bounce back pretty soon. He found out just how self-centered his girlfriend was in the middle of all this and they went their separate ways over it. So he's a bit down, but tomorrow's another day.
People from all over have been sending painting supplies to our address knowing he was headed here. Clothes and money too. There are a lot of good folks out there! Someone sent him a bag of dogfood for his 11 1/2 year old rotweiler! I said, that's some expensive dog food! They could have sent $5 for dogfood with a $.32 stamp, but they spent $12 on shipping it! Very nice gesture, though, just makes me smile!
My Kids are resilient. I've said the thing I wanted most was for my Kids to become independent Adults, and they have! And we all still love each other too! I am one lucky man!
