  • I got a job!

Yep, just heard this morning I've landed a job in a small engineering workshop here in Brisbane. I'm over the moon, it's the first full-time position since I was made redundant in 2009.

One thing this means is I'll be getting some more carving tools soon! I'm looking at an Arbortech pro carver and an angle grinder to start getting to grips with larger scale products, and maybe an Archer power carving kit in the future.

Congratulations Raven. I know how it feels to be unemployed having gone through an extended period myself recently. But, work does cut into one's carving time though. I'm looking forward to retirement. Only about 30 more years to go.

                          Thank you everyone

It's going to be a shock to the system alright but I will overcome that. The thought of getting a paycheck at the end will sustain me. I've made a list - first pay is going to be all the things my wife and I have been craving, like a decent lamb roast and some bananas (the bananas are sooo expensive here since the floods and cyclones knocked out the crop), then we're saving for a car, then a bond so we can get our own place, and then maybe look at new toys - err I mean tools, yeah... tools...

Congratulations and good luck with the new job. That's great news, especially at this time of the year. Less time to carve, more money to buy toys, but surely feel better about life in general now.
