Randy... I've been looking at the write-ups on both the new Kindle Fire and the B & N Nook Tablets... Would like to use something like these down in my garage shop to re-view You Tube Wood Carving sites as I'm afraid of taking my PC down there... My question to you is... Is the screen large and clear enough to view these types of videos or would you prefer a larger screen (say 10"...) or is you K. Fire large enough... It seems to be just about right, but since I've not been able to use one... What are you using your's for??? From the spec's I'm not sure if I'd prefer the Fire or the new Nook Tablet...why did you select this one??? Any/all info you can supply will be really appreciated by me and lot's of other carvers I'ms sure! Safe carving to you!!!
Kenn
Hey Steve, no USB or SD slots on the Fire. But you do have free storage on Amazon Cloud.
Kenn, we chose the Fire over the Nook because that's what the boss wanted, (happy wife, happy life). She wanted an E-reader and ability to surf the web and check e-mail. It uses a new browser from Amazon and is pretty fast. It is faster than my PC. Videos load fast and run smooth, no freezing or lock ups. The screen is 7" I don't think I would want to watch a 2 hour movie, but it is great for short videos. It has two speakers built in and a plug for headphones.
So far no complaints.
I have the regular kindle, I love reading books and this is the way to go, as you do not have paper. Until they put the kindle fire with free 3G and make it so you can go back easily to any page... I will wait. Honestly I like my lap top as the screen is big and great for dragging to bed. Although I need to say, .... nothing beats real books on how to do things, such as woodcarving.
