      Re: Trygg Carving Values

The standing bearded man isn't a golfer, just santa holding a cane! I won't buy both but I put a hold on the seated character with the 'still'. I find that when a piece stays in your mind for a few days, it is hard to not buy it.

He was asking $US 200 on the 1931 C.O. Trygg old 11" standing character with a cane. If you look close at the picture, you can see it is missing one of the bottom buttons. Other than that it was great.

My wife took $200 worth of my hide for my last $60 purchase.

I only have about $10 worth of hide left....

                  Re: Trygg Carving Values

Nope. Not a carver - almost though! When I was in grade seven my teacher was Larry Lunman who offered to teach us how to carve a decoy. I did not think I could get the necessary tools so I only had the one lesson. Larry co-wrote a well known book on the 'Decoys of the Thousand Islands'. John Leeder was in my grade 7 class, kept up with the lessons and ..... He continues to win numerous first place honours and several 'Best of Show' and 'People's Choice' awards at carving competitions throughout North America. John's wildlife sculptures are displayed in several art galleries throughout Canada and the US. John is a current 'World Level' Competitor and has 15 'Best of Show' awards under his belt. You can probably google him.

                  Oh what could have been.....

                    Re: Trygg Carving Values

Wow , I know there hasn't been any post of Tryggs' work in awhile but I just came across a box full of Trygg carvings. I was recearching my heritage(swedish) and my grandmother had given me these awhile back. I forgot all about them. I am still doing research about my family tree but some of these carvings are a bit disturbing!
