I did not want to wait for late March mailing of the new magazine and had my subscription start in the Summer issue. Waited for Barnes and Noble to get in the magazine. Was told that they have discontinued your magzine as of November, 2011. Lets see Borders closes, Barnes and Noble only book stores left and they drop the carving issues? Lets see they have in our store three wood carving books on the shelves in the whole store and the lady said, "Well no one is buying them". Buying what? Do car lots have three cars only? Pick one.
Oh well where else in Michigan do you sell your books???

Oh yeah, my wife has about 4 casino's up there she likes more than carving! Would be one expensive magazine! Maybe WCI can give us some stores they sell at.

Try your grocery stores. Hy-Vee carries it here.

                Think Lowes also carries WCI.

Books a million carries it, and so does Lowes. Before I subscribed, I always got them at BAM.

Check out Amazon. If they sell it save the gas money and just order it from Amazon.

Borders, Walden Books, B. Dalton, eventually Barnes and Nobles.... These were once retail giants... Now Barnes and Nobles hangs on for eventually the inevitable....Their Jurassic end....... We are seeing the end of an era as we know it... Giving way to very convenient invention called the computer (adobe book reader, kindle, Google reader, etc...) We claim that we might change the way we do things, but we won't change who we are inside.... I would like to believe that, but i see different otherwise... I see a society that is progressing more towards secularism. De-sensitized on the surroundings about them, as well as the very real world we live in. One day, we will be carving wood on a computer program, hell...we are already doing CNC... the next is to move away from carving wood completely, because 'that hurts the trees, and they help us' Things have changed so rapidly with in the last 15 years... I feel as if im a stranger that has to adapt to an environment that should be native to me... Times are changing and with it societies moods and attitudes. The borders i normally go to by Union Square has changed also... They now carry Carving Magazine... However i find myself looking for WCI Magazine, and can't find it.... Has it come to this.... I say to myself though that society is changing, so less hands on. I used to buy popular science, modern electronics, model railroader magazine, and the like... now i can't seem to find them readily available... Anywho..... Amazon is what it is, or just order direct from WCI... The annual subscription is cheaper.....

Hmmm... I'll definitely talk with our newsstand rep about Barnes & Noble. The whole newsstand industry is really in a state of flux right now.

Do you have a local carving supply store or Woodcraft store? If they don't carry it already, I'm sure they would at your request.

We are definitely in Lowes stores. Some other places to try are Safeway, Books A Million, Kroger, Home Depot, AC Moore, Weis Markets, Rockler, and Wegmans.

I remember as a kid there was a little newsstand in my hometown called Lehman's. We used to go there because they had video games in the back corner, but I remember the racks and racks of magazines, newspapers, and comics. I drove past the other day... the store has been closed for many many years - but it still made me a little sad.

They must have something against carving. They got rid of all thier carving magazines. Not just this one. Also carving books are all gone too. I got mine at Rocklers but I hated going there to get it because they are kind of an anti carving store also. Turners seem to be all the rage now. Barnes and Noble had no less then five differant magazines for turning. Crazy.

I realize it is not ALL WCI's problem, but, when half of the issues on a subscription never arrive, then they want you to wait 6 weeks before you request a replacement, a subscription won't work. And we are not going to talk about the ones that do arrive and are all ripped up.

I realize most of the problem is a USPS problem. I just don't want it to be my problem, thus no more subscription.

As soon as I can get a subscription BY FIRST CLASS POSTAGE, I am willing to try again.

In the meantime it is easier to go to Woodcraft and get it usually sooner than some subscribers get theirs.
