Yesterday, the young man who does all the things I can't do anymore, like yard work
, major cleaning & moving stuff around the house, stopped to watch me carve and asked if he could check out my knives.
I was pleased, handed him one and a hunk o scrap wood. I was amazed that I could actually 'teach' him something about holding the knife and to make cuts safely. I hadn't realized I had learned enough to 'pass along'. Ended up passing along a murphy knife, some basswood, a beginner's book an extra glove and my thumb guard (I have tape) too. lol.
I believe I've made a convert. We talked and carved together for a good hour. When he left he had the beginings of a wizard, a cowboy boot cut out, and a big smile!
It was a wonderful experience. I wouldn't have had without the help, & info I get here. Thank you.
The only down side is my computer & desk didn't get moved... Aww, It was worth it. Big Time!
