Since more people read the off topic than the carving business threads I thought I would post this here for the skae of safety.
There is a thread going in Carving Business about tent weights. I feel that we try to do things safely and don't take chances.
Yesterday when a gust of wind came up the street between the buildings and any tent that was not lashed down became a parasail. There was a few minor injuries but no one was seriously hurt.
And if you think it can't happen to you!
We did the Arbutus Arts festival yesterday. Decent weather but still tethered down the tent with weights. Towards the afternoon it got a litlle breezy. We had just disconnected the weights and was putting them in the trailer. We use two tents that I lash together with tie wraps and had not cut them loose yet. A gust of wind blew down thru the midway and picked both tents up. Anna was holding on to the tent while I was putting the weights in the trailer and when the tents took off it took her off her feet and I screamed for her to let it go. It did three complete flips before we could get control of it. The force did twist her arm a little but no real damage. She was upset as the tents frames were pretty mangled up. Luckily all the parts for the tent are availiable. I bought all the parts today for $90.00 and Undercover is shipping them priority mail with no shipping charges.
Carefull out there, It can happen to you when you least expect it
Goody and Anna (lefty lol)
