  • 1970's carving kit

I would like to find out the value of a wood carving kit that belonged to my father-in-law. Some of the tools were bought in Japan in the 70's. Is there a way for me to send a pic of the kit so someone could evaluate it?

okay Craig I'll take a bite on this one. Maybe if you just posted a pic on this page you would get some respones. However, I must warn you that 1970's tool are pretty much out of date, they are making much better tools today, so there might not be much valve for these tools. Or you can send me a private message and I will try to help you.

Amen to BZCarvn's comments about their value being minimal. Seeing a picture might be interesting though. I wonder what they look like, where they were stored, whether there are lots or very few tools. Whether they're still sharp. And whether there are still some carvings to show off.

The question arises? Why sell them at all -- it's kind of wonderful to have memories like that. I'll speculate that they're worth more to your family in the long run, than to anyone else. The great thing about carving tools is that they don't normally take up a lot of room.

Japan is known for some excellent tools and steel....I would not for a minute think they were out of date? being from the 1970's...maybe better than what we get now?

Well maybe, but we need more info than Craig has provided.
