My favorite single day of the year is the winter solstice. The day of maximum darkness and signal of returning light. I have always paid attention to this day; but it became a focus of attention during my time in Alaska. You might say that it is the start of my New Year.
My next favorite, which ushers in my favorite season, is the autumnal equinox. Today!
The hills will soon be an artist's canvas. Fall Festivals in every little. settlement. Persimmons, my favorite fruit, are ripening. The smell of apple butter in-the-making flavors the house. Then best of all....ticks and chiggers are gone and walks in the woods, without the smell of insect repellant, allows enjoyment using all five senses.
So my Frien's ...........Happy Equinox
There is still a couple of months to carve outside here in the Ozarks and I am off to enjoy a full day of making chips on the front porch.
