Just got my orders for Ft. Huachuca in Sierra Vista Arizona. Bad news is the nearest carving club is 3 hours away, the good news is...well...its NOT Afghanistan
Congrats on the end of your deployment, hopefully it is the last one. I guess three hours from the nearest carving club is better than 13 time zones away. Welcome home.
Sounds like a great opportunity to START a club. I'm sure it would beat chasing desert lizards. Thanks for your service and welcome back to the good ole U.S. of A.

Hi Bart,
I'm so happy for you that you are NOT being deployed overseas......
What part of the state is your base in? Dad was stationed at Davis Monthen (sp?) airbase when I was small and we lived in Tucson. Like living in a blast furnace during the Summer....but it beats getting shot at by radical Muslims.
How long are you there for? Embrace your new home. Some great culture out that way.... You might take up Kachina Doll carving, who knows?
Hello again all!! Finally made it to Arizona, now I just have to wait for my knives to get here so I can finally get to carving. I'm suffering from withdrawal symptoms. Hope everyone is doing well.
Welcome to southern AZ. We chose to settle here in Green Valley, just south of Tucson and love it, summer and all. Actually there are several clubs a lot closer than three hours...but still a long way. Tucson is a little more than an hour away and has several clubs, as does Green Valley. But that is still a long way. Hope you can start a club in Sierra Vista. That is a beautiful place with a lot of people. Must be a bunch of carvers around. Welcome!!!
Welcome home my friend!!! It's great to have you back and on behalf of a grateful nation, I thank you for your service. I hope you knives arrive soon, if not, I know where you can get more (wink wink).
Three things of great interest to you, first of all welcome home, the second thing is good thing you got your training in Afghanistan, as that part of Arizona is similar and
can get just as hot as Afghanistan, The best part is you are home safe and can carve
and enjoy your tour of duty with Uncle Sam.
