  • Power Sharpeners

    Good Evening to All;

    I am trying to decide on which type (or brand, etc) of power sharpener to purchase that I could use for my knives and gouges. I am not looking to necessarilly purchase a "cadillac", but do not want a "skateboard" either.
    Any recommendations will be truly appreciatred.

    You might consider one of these: Tomz Knife Massager - Woodcarving Illustrated Classifieds Several forum members have one and I have heard no complaints.

        Re: Power Sharpeners

        There are a number of good power sharpening systems out there. There are some post’s on the forum on how to make your own. But for the money, portability and overall versatility of the products I have used I really like my Tomz knife Massager. I have had a Tormek for many years. I got the Tomz to travel with and quick tune ups. But it has become my primary sharpening system. To me it is a great tool

          imo tomz is a great system however, in my experience if you cant pull it off by hand no power system will do it for you. In the end you will probably end up hand stropping to some degree. and the danger with any power is that you take off too much metal and its really easy to screw up yr bevel really fast. But if you need a power system I think Tomz is the way to go. no i dont get paid for endorsements

            Re: Power Sharpeners

            I got a Tomz at Christmas & love it. Not that I've had a lot of experience with other power sharpeners, but for me, my tools are sharper that they have ever been. I really like the slow speed. I feel more in controll than a couple of the larger, faster units I've tried. Plus with Tom's You Tube videos, you get a lot of support.
