Wish I could

I wish I knew how to darken the text on all web sites. Getting older and loosing my vision due to Macular degenerations makes it hard to read gray color text. Even on this web site it is really hard. I have done everything I can do with my monitor and in windows 7 to darken the text but still doesn't help. If any one knows of some way to make the text BLACK it sure would be of GREAT help. thank Ginny

Hi Ginny, If it's Dark that you want, maybe you could treat your Monitor as you do your Eyes when you go out in the Sun, Put Sun Glasses on your Monitor. Take Colored Glass or Maybe the stuff that they put on Car Windows to block out the Sun. Just my 2 cents worth, if you doit and it works let me know. Hope it does for you. OH!! Just thought of this, Wear Sun Glasses, Dah!! it might help, try it you'll like it, Ha, Ha. Merle

depending on yr monitor, but I believe most are adjustable you can finagle with the color settings, etc. should be some buttons on the bottom right and they can be a pain to work with but with enough patience maybe it will make a diffeence

I don't know how to darken the text, but you can magnify by pushing control and the plus key. To go back to normal use Control and minus key

have you maxed the display settings in Display area? Especially the contrast and brightness. lower bright stuff a bit and kick up contrast. Your graphics card might also have control settings like if its Nvidia or something

If you go to Control Panel, Ease of Access, you could try the High Contrast theme. Basically, it will make the backgrounds black and all the lettering white, for ease of reading. You can toggle it on and off with a combination of keys. But you may have to turn off the annoying Narrator.

Ginny, my best friend is out of town this weekend, but when she gets back I will find out the name of a program that is free through the Federation of the Blind that makes your entire screen bigger and bolder so it's easier to read. My mom and her twin sister both had advanced magular degeneration and they got these big reading machines at a huge discount thru the Blind fed.
