I agree about the vitamin D. I get cod liver oil capsules also and keep them in the fridge. They each have about 250 mls of D. When I remember to take my supplements, I take 4 or 5 at a time with Calcium magnesium citrate capsules. I take lots of vitamin C and that's good for everything!!!
Like I told you on FB, if I'm dehydrated I hurt bad. I'm a heavy coffee drinker, so I get dehydrated easy. Then, remember the message I sent you what i do for pain, That helps a lot.
Then my chiropractor told me get up and move quite often. Switch what I'm doing a lot too. If I sit to long hunched over at this stupid computer my neck gets out and that makes my hands go to sleep and hurt. I have a nursery so I prune a lot, that about sends me through the roof pain wise especially when I sleep.

My husband helped build a house for an older couple back in the 80's. The man had RA and said his hands were getting pretty gnarled. He drank aloe vera juice. when we met him his fingers had straightened out quite a bit and he wasn't in hardly any pain.
Might be something to look into for those that have it.

Never doing the same carving twice forces me to stop often to puzzle out what I should do next! But for the first time, this winter past, I did feel some low level but nagging pain in rhe palms of my hands. I suppose that's the onset of arthritis? Pinching skinny tool shanks doesn't help. Also, I found that I had a real "death-grip" on the gouges. I hold them more loosely now, just to steady and aim.
Same with the mallet, light leather gloves have a slight stickiness to add to my grip.
Given the very short winter days here, I think I should do the Vitamin D supplement.
Dec 21/2012 (winter solstice), I watched the sun go behind the mountains at 2:10PM.
