  • Computer question, need help. Please

I'm not the smartest person in the world and computers are a pain to me.
I run windows 7 IE 10. I use to be able to click say on a posted picture in the forum and it would open in a new window. Links would do the same. Now when I click on a link or photo on the forum nothing happens. Can anyone tell me what I need to do to get this problem solved. Thanks Ginny

Sorry to hear it Ginny. Computers can be a pain. A few things: reboot your computer, delete your cookies, check your computer for viruses and malware.

Your web browser might be blocking pop-ups. Most browsers block pop-ups by default so the user doesn't get all those pesky ads. There might be a message at the top or bottom of your browser when you click on a picture asking if you want to "Allow this pop-up". If not, you should be able to find the option in your browser settings to allow pop-ups.

Re: Computer question, need help. Please

GinnytooU try to right click on the link or photo and select "open link in new window"

The other way is to hold down the "Crtl and Shift" key the left click on the link.

The other way is to click on the link or image with the "wheel in the center of your mouse" if you have one.

Also GinnytooU I found this on the net maybe it will help.

        Method 1:
You can change the settings in Internet Options. Follow these steps to do so:
        a. Open Internet Explorer 10 desktop version and select Tools (gear shaped button) on the top right corner of the window.
        b. Select Internet Options and click on Tabs.
        c. In the Tabbed Browsing Settings window, under Open links from other programs in: select the appropriate option.

        Method 2:
        Manage add-ons
Click the link and follow the steps “Manage add-ons in Internet Explorer”
Learn about add-ons in Internet Explorer, including how to turn add-ons on or off, delete installed add-ons, and use Enhanced Protected Mode.

Note: If disabling all add-ons solves the problem, you might want to disable all add-ons and then turn on add-ons only as you need them. This will allow you to figure out which add-on is causing the problem.

        Method 3:
        Reset the Internet Explorer.
Click the link and follow the steps “How to reset Internet Explorer settings”

Note: The Reset Internet Explorer Settings feature might reset security settings or privacy settings that you added to the list of Trusted Sites. The Reset Internet Explorer Settings feature might also reset parental control settings. We recommend that you note these sites before you use the Reset Internet Explorer Settings feature

OK, when I click on Dwight's carving gallery which is in red. A new window open but nothing is there. Just a white screen. I just don't know what changed on my PC to make this happen. I don't think I did anything to make this happen.

you can reset windows to a earlier time. if you type back up and restore into the search box in windows you will get a screen to take you back to a previous restore point. try rebooting and then try restore. the other thing you can check is the mouse configuration, it almost sounds like the click double click speed on the mouse is messed up

Sometimes just turning off your computer and rebooting it fixes certain problems.

I think your best bet is to try another web browser. You can get one by going to google.com and searching for "Chrome" and following the links to install that browser.

There are three possibilities I can think of for IE not working for you:
                            1. Some browser setting is causing problems.
                            2. There is a glitch in your software (could be due to an update).
                            3. A virus has corrupted an important program file on your PC. Do you have antivirus software? Microsoft Security Essentials is a good free one.
