More IPad help needed...updated to IO7

I updated to Windows 7 on my ipad. Now I am not sure how to close out the icons that I have been using. I use to double click the little tab at the bottom of my ipad, and they would show up, then I held one until they jiggled and close them out that way. Now they are not lined up nice and neat and don't jiggle, so how do I close them out?

Hi, Kris.....I think you mean iO7, not Windows 7.

I know the problem you speak of, though......my iPad (the original) still runs on iOS 5.1. My Dad's runs on iOS 7, though (yes.....my 70 year old father is more technologically advanced than I am ) I noticed this issue a few weeks back when I was fudging around with his device.

If memory serves, I think the way you close the apps is as follows:

Double tap the home screen button as normal
You should get a preview picture of each of your open apps
Scroll right or left to get to the one you want to close
Press and hold on that preview picture, and then swipe it up (as if flinging off the top of the screen). That will close the app.

I just checked my wife's iPad (iOS 7.x) - Shawn is correct. The jiggle is still there by holding down on one of the icons in the bottom row (dock?) for a few seconds. All the icons then jiggle and each has a little "x" in the upper left corner. Caution: if you click on the "x", the app disappears from your iPad. It's still on your computer and in the iCloud so next time you sync, you can get it back...but you probably don't want to go through the hassle.

Claude, I don't think I can get them to jiggle. But swiping up seems to work. Btw, can you remind me how to turn off the automatic spell check, the one that changes my words and makes me say things I don't mean?

Kris, the way I get to it is---settings, then general, then keyboard and there you will see auto correction and can be turned off. Also on mine, I use the five finger push up and that makes all your apps that are open to be smaller, now just slide them up to close them. The five finger can also be used to toggle from one open app to another, just place all five fingers on the screen and pull sideways, takes you to other open apps. You can also use the five finger close, place all five fingers on the screen and close your fingers, makes that app dissappear. I have a grandson or I'd been lost, he just grins at me when he shows me how to do these things.

Thanks, Earl & Claude. I just turned the auto correct off. I appreciate your help. Now i will have to go try that 5 finger swipe.....
