This is just an idea/suggestion I have for WCI.
I was thinking in the magazine it would be nice to have about three pages dedicated to just photos of carvings that are chosen by magazine staff and/or featured carvers in that particular issue, that depicts some of the best carving examples (3?) in its category. Not really a contest but an honor to be chosen.
The categories could be about the same as the forum gallery’s categories.
It would be nice if the carving were new. Completed in the last year. Any wood carver , top carver to beginner. ..Maybe the chosen woodcarver’s work can’t be in consecutive issues.
Submited photos from carvers through this forum…maybe a new category in the gallery for this. That can be viewed by all.
And/Or Carvings could be found by staff and the featured carvers, from the internet or where ever they like.
Formated like a “snapshot corner “ type thing. Have only one or two line description and info with the colored photo. Maybe 9 photos or more per page. Advertisement across the top or bottom.
The advertisers could pay for these pages? I could see someone wanting there ad on those pages because with all the photos, those pages would be looked at tons.
Carvers love photos of carvings! I think most save each issue and look at them often.
I think with these new pages of snapshot photos could be a big interest to the new and old subscribers. I think it would help subscription RENEWAL. It would be positive and promotional for WCI magazine and the Forum.
My thought is after the initial set up, the work load and cost would be minimal… or it’s an idea to play with to make it so.
Just a thought I had for the suggestion box.
