  • Eyeball With Another WCI Carver

I still say that the WCI Forums are my carving club.

Until yesterday, I could admit that I have not met another wood carver
in 10 years. Not any more.

I brought some shake blocks and other pieces of WRC into the city for "ermfu." We spent an hour wood-bashing with my mallet & froe and messing with my 12 crooked knives.

    What a pleasant encounter.

I'm going to be camping on Galiano Island this weekend. Too bad you're still 10 hours away!

Yeah. This club has clouds of electrons for members.
Most of the time, it all seems so abstract, particularly with
          the global membership.
Certainly different to engage the real, physical presence.
I hope that these things happen more often.

I feel very fortunate that I have been eyeball to eyeball with 3 carvers that I met here on the forum. Email friendships with a half dozen more. That's why I enjoy this forum so much, good folks!

I carved for three years before I met another carver finally a friend from this forum turned me on to the Loveland, Colorado carving club, Which is 150 miles away but well worth the trip, The friend (kA0fan) also travels 150 miles to the club. I go down there once a month. Then I met 3 carvers from Glenrock (only 60 miles away) and I carve with them weekly. Eyeball to eyeball is wonderful and led me to lots of improvement in my carving.
