  • What is it?

Every summer I look forward to going to the Allegan Antiques Flea Market here in Michigan. Picked up a very nice Trygg carving there once. The show runs April through September on the last Sunday of each month. Last summer I got my sister hooked on it and she makes the drive up from Indiana. Her favorite things to buy are usually made of heavy metal. She likes to decorate her yard and garden. Last time she picked up a metal thingy that we could not identify. It is a hoop with arms coming off it. The pic is below. She cleaned it up and painted it red. Does anyone know what it is?

Joyce, my sister has a naturally artistic talent for drawing. When we were kids she was always drawing girls in fancy clothes and the drawings were incredible. Her handwriting has always been amazing, almost like calligraphy. She never pursued her artist side though, but she's always done crafty type stuff and I think her artistic side shows through. I wish I had her natural talent. I can't draw very well and my handwriting is only so so. How she got into this heavy metal thing though, I'm not sure.

Your sister obviously used the expression "I'll do it when I get around to it". Its a roundtoit.
                Actually looks like a postmark.

A postmark? Interesting. I was thinking it was some kind of useful thing but it could be some kind of design thingy. I dunno.

How about an unfinished Zia Symbol.

Interesting Robert. It does have similar design elements.

That's easy. Its a hoop with arms coming off it.

Are the arms welded? Were the short arms cut? Are there any other old weld marks on it?
...answer these questions, I'll still have no idea.

It looks like one piece to me with no weld marks. I have done a dozen or more internet searches using different keywords for this and haven't seen anything that comes close.

At the next flea market, I'll ask my sister if she can recall the vendor that sold it to her. Maybe we can figure it out that way.

It's kinda driving me nuts. LOL!
