Thanks for the ant solutions....I had the darn things all over me today, seems like they are in everything outside and real heavy in the plants and trees. Hurricane went spinning North of us.....and it is put everything back to pre storm. So happy this one is over with.

        Dear Di
        Thanks for the good news.
The ant paint dries clear. I couldn't figure out why the little buggers weren't all over the lab benches so had to ask.
Hope that you don't get another storm track. Ever.

          Re: The perfect storm coming?

          Hi Di,
Eddy pretty well nailed it when he said the storms are subject to change with out notice...... Knock on wood, it's been a quiet season here in Florida, this year....so far.

04 was the last really active season that the Gulf Coast had. The storm that I thought was going to be "the BIG ONE" was a cat 4 that was predicted to make direct hit on our little town. It would have cleaned our town right off the map.
We had to evacuate and I spent several house before that, looking around our home thinking "what can I save?" It is a horrible feeling. That is the closest to a meltdown, that I've ever had.

Sitting in our brother in law's house (where we evacuated to) watching storm reports, we were told that the storm, Charlie, had made a sharp right turn and would plow into the areas South of Tampa Bay instead. They figured it was passing them by so nobody down there made much storm prep. Caught them off guard.

I always felt so guilty for being relieved that it wasn't us..... We did get hit by two other storms that year but they came on shore on the Atlantic side and by the time they crossed the state and got to us, they had lost some strength. We did lose one of our ancient pecan trees. Downed trees were everywhere, especially cedar trees...they are brittle and don't bend in the wind.

We are pretty lucky that our part of the Gulf Coast, rarely gets hit. Last direct hit in our area was Gladys in 1968. Small storm that nobody ever mentions anymore. Being 16 at the time, I thought it was exciting!! At least until our power was knocked out for 3 days. We were on a well..... It was hot & humid, couldn't shower, couldn't cook. The bathtub of water we had run before the storm, was so we could flush toilets. Lost 2 one hundred foot pine trees, one was up against the house before the storm, thank God it fell the other way.

I'm hoping this season continues to be quiet and boring..... and I hope your life gets back to normal real soon.

Years ago we started using something called "Green Lantern"...get it at Safeway, or used to? It doesn't really kill the ants...it drives them into the next property lol...
