as soon as you realize who the call is from say- "while I have you on the line I would like to appeal to you for a donation to the Center for the Prevention of Mental Health. Help those infected with these terrible disorders" well this gives you the idea. Have fun. See who can keep them on the line the longest. Much more fun than Prince Albert in a can.

My husband will sometimes have a bit of fun with them. I wish he wouldn't answer at all but he likes to entertain himself at their expense. He'll listen to them and then ask how the weather is there and then start telling them about his grandchildren.

Some of the callers are a little slow to catch on....(grin) I'd just as soon let them leave us a message. They never do.

Generally I screen my calls and rarely pick up unless I recognize the number. But I used to ask telemarketers to give me their home phone number and I can call them at home, just like they do me. Never found a taker.
