I believe it major, when I was working with customs.....they ran this Santa Claus type doll through the machine, and he was wired weird....and they thought bomb! So.... They took that Santa and blew him up on the runway.....found he was just a mechanical doll ... no bomb...I wonder if they told the owner that they blew up his poor old santa doll? 
One Brit made the news when everything he brought was confiscated by USCustoms = importing insects into the USA. He had to arrange to provide microscopes to make his case for artificials!
