Any Idea When?

Hi BobD,
I know everyone at WCI has been working diligently on fixing all the damage done by the hackers. Just wondering about the progress and if there is any idea about when everything will be back to normal...like the Carver Galleries and Classifieds? I haven't seen or heard anything. Thanks!

Been wondering the same thing. Just glad this forum is still going. A long wait is usually a good thing right. Next issue of WCI should come soon.

The carver galleries will not be a part of the new forum. Bob has posted on this several times. I don't know about the classifieds.

As I've said in the past, we're incorporating a flickr feed into the site. We are going to have a buy and sell section of the forum itself, and eliminate the classifieds. The carver galleries and classifieds are huge security vulnerabilities, so we've decided to let the big boys (flickr, and eventually instagram) handle the security aspects.

We had a few manpower setbacks on the site, but it's still something we're working hard on.

Sorry to jump in mid stream for you Bob, have you tried Zimbra Community(formerly Telligent Community) which is a social community platform? The filestorage is locked down very tight and does not need to go out externally for filesharing. Some of the biggest names in the business use this software for their communities, for instance the Dell community. There is a lot of new technologies built with in the platform and most of it is based on widgets that function as plugins, allowing very granular control of the site.
The kicker here is that the software runs on Microsoft Windows. Sorry to beat the drum but I work in the hosting department for Zimbra, hosting 50+ communities, and understand all that you are going through with the site and security vulnerabilities. I passed the info on to the tech guys... I'll admit... most of what you said went over my head. I'm good at translating what the tech guys tell me... but they speak really slowly for me <GRIN>

Also Bob there seems to be a problem with subscription links, when I subscribe to a post for instant email, nothing ever arrives even though the post has been updated.

Unfortunately, Dwight, that's an ongoing issue we're having, and after spending 20 hours or so trying to diagnose that issue, we've decided we were better off focusing additional time on getting the new sites up and running rather than spend more time trying to fix a problem that will more than likely get corrected when we update the forum software.
