Ever since I joined this group I\\\\\\\'ve hoped to meet some of the other members personally. So about 3 weeks ago I had the opportunity to meet up with Scotia Carver and his wife. Even though we live in the same province we are still a long ways from each other. Bruce and I had been communicating with each other for the last 2-3 years via this forum and through emails, and it was really a treat to actually meet him and shake his hand. We exchanged a couple of pieces of our work and Bruce threw in a bonus. He gave me a Cyprus knee of which I had heard about but had never seen one let alone carved one.

Re: Connecting with forum members
I agree with Donna; whom I have met and carved with on several occasions. The others I have met have been at shows and such. I would like to extend an invitation to any members planning a visit to the Branson area: I live about 40 miles south on Hwys 65 and 412. I would love to carve, discuss carving or simply get to know you as individuals. Come on by!

Re: Connecting with forum members
One of the reasons I have loved this hobby is the interaction with other folks be they fellow carvers or the general public at shows. I too would like to extend an invitation to anyone cruising through south central PA to stop in and say hello. Paul, if you were a few thousand miles closer, I would take you up on the offer! Soggy, I\'m glad it came together for you and Bruce. I\'m sure a great time was had.

Re: Connecting with forum members
I have always enjoyed chatting with other carvers since I first enrolled
to this great group of carvers seven years ago. Unfortunately I had to resubscribe all over again due to a glitch in the change over of the forum.
But I\'m still the same old Torpidihummer.I was planning a trip from the West Coast where I live and stop over a meet some of the carvers that I have enjoyed meeting on this cite but due to the bad weather around my planned trip I had to cancel, enjoy your carving everyone.

Oops - I hadn\'t noticed that the new site deleted the location info that showed in the upper right of every posting. I\'m in Ventura, CA and have had several WCI members visit while in southern Calif.

It would be nice to join a wood carving club one day.
