Thank you! I am adding that one to my recipe scrapbook ... I think even my son who can bare microwave water could do that cake.

    For the Chocoholics...

Since Susan Irish decided to give you all a holiday recipe, I thought I'd do the same. This recipe was printed in the Portland Oregon newspaper more than 56 years ago, as I first made it at the age of six. Obviously, it's a good recipe for a youngster to begin cooking, and the best part is, you can make it using only a very few utensils and no power tools!

    Crazy cake:

    1 1/2 cups flour
    1 cup sugar
    3 Tbsp. cocoa powder
    1 tsp. soda
    1 tsp. salt

Put all dry ingredients through a sieve or sifter into a 9 X 9 square pan or 10 inch round cake pan. Mix well. If you don't have a sifter, use a fork to mash all the lumps.

Make two big indentions in these dry ingredients.
Pour 6 Tbsp. oil into one hole.

Mix 1 cup water, 1 tsp. vanilla and 1 Tbsp. apple cider vinegar.
    Pour into second hole.

Mix quickly with a fork. Don't mix very long or very well; just long enough so there's no dry spots.

Bake at 350 for 25-30 minutes.

Eat plain right out of the oven or add a dollop of whipped cream or icecream.
    OR
Cool and frost or eat plain or dust with powdered sugar.

    Happy Holidays!
    Claude
