My beloved hubby informed me that if you are using Mozilla Firefox 2 as your browser it already has a Spell Checker built in.

Do you typing in the field or menu, right hand click, in the little menu select "spell check this field". Firefox will red underline the incorrect words and when you click on those words a new menu pops up with the correct spelling.

Dink-a-links of the world, unite! (teehee teehee)

Hey, the world would be far less interesting without all the funny typos that crop up.

                Re: Spell Checker!!!!

Long ago and far away ... I was a member of an art forum that was, to say it kindly, quite blood thirsty! We were discussing the use of digital camera and computers in creating the original images and patterns for a painting. That discussion went into whether you were "really an artist" if you used these tools instead of hand drawing your design.

So I, foolishly, got into the debate and posted that if Rembrandt had owned a Kodiak he would have embraced that technology and used it.

Well, I got razzed for weeks about poor Rembrandt being hugged to death by a bear ....

I do believe I prefer to avoid that type of 'interesting funny typos" if at all possible.

                      Re: Spell Checker!!!!

This has absolutely NOTHING to do with Ursa Horibulus, or Ursula Andress but........

I haven't got the facts right at hand about this, but somewhere I read that several of our recognized "great artists" used the camera obscura to sketch out some of their better known paintings.

Not to compare myself to artists, but I can't draw fer s***. I can, however take a pretty darn good photo and have developed several sound methods to transpose these to line drawings which I can use!

My dad, however was an artist and a professional photographer, back in the late 30's through the early 50's. Although he was talented with brush, pencil or pen, his forte was capturing life through the lense. Mostly nature, portraits, sports, and surprisingly, industrial shots. And I really take defference with "artists" who deride photography as an art.

I'll bear up under the strain!

                        Sue,
As far as bears go, Just keep one rule in mind.

"Don't Poke A Bear With A Short Stick"

As far as keeping your mouth shut, my dad use to always say

"if you are right stand your ground, If they prove you wrong apolgize"

I have lost jobs over that one.

Al ... Rembrandt was know to have used a copying devise where you put a small hole in a solid surface ... wood, cardboard ... and then used a candle and somehow the image in the candle light was projected onto the surface where the light came through the hole. I'll go look it up as this is not a good description of this ingenious device.

Goody .. My Mom knew one sentence of Spanish. I don't remember the sentence now but I do remember the translation. "In a closed mouth no flies enter"

Camera Obscura....here's a link to a pretty good description and short history
                            http://brightbytes.com/cosite/what.html

When I was a kid, my dad showed me how to make and use a pinhole camera. It was a pain in the keester to set up individual photos with sheets of film, but they WORKED! We also used the "pinhole" technique to form images of the sun on a piece of cardboard. Those are used for viewing eclipses, too.
