My former dentist told me that I ought to be glad he could do the procedure orally

Best wishes, Nancy. Here's much hope that "no pain" continues.
Get as much rest as you can - take care of yourself.

Hey Bill, would you believe that on the after care instructions they gave me, it said that if I ran out of gauze to use a teabag! I'm glad you told me this because on the 20th the rest come out so now I will know to try the teabag. Thanks.

To all: today was pretty good actually. no pain at all. Trying to eat anything or talking is weird but I'm doing good. Had some mashed potatoes for lunch and I'll have that again tonight. I did keep my other doctors appointment today. Have to go do tons of tests but just for routine stuff and have a mole removed on my back on the 27th. In California I was always griping about no health care unless you were a drug addict, baby machine or illegal. Now here they won't leave me alone!!!! Never happy huh Guess it will all be worth it in the end, I hope.

Dentist don't bother me. I just tell them if I feel any pain, they will, too.
    Works.

But what I do hate is The dentist has all these tools hanging from your mouth, have both hands and a foot in your mouth, then ask you a question! Geezz, How dumb!

Hey Kenny...thats not cuz their dumb! Its cuz they understand "kerblummberfung!" thats the language spoken, with dentist tools hanging from you mouth, both hands and one foot in your mouth! LOL

Nancy, I spent one christmas eve like that, everytime I took the gauze out, it took the clot with it and started bleeding again! Later I found out, you are supposed to take the gauze out about every 30 minutes! Check with your dentist on it! Its kind of a hassle now, but I can tell you, when your gums are healed and you have your new plates....its just fine! Annnnndddd if I have to go to the dentist, I walk in, lay them on the tray and go read a magazine ha ha....."it don git no better'n that!" (the only reason you have to go in is because you dropped them in the sink cleaning them and cracked them LOL)

I am so sorry! I know that I had nothing to do with it, but I'm terrified of dentists. I don't really have a thing that pops out in my mind why, but could pee my pants just thinking about it. I had my wisdom teeth removed last Jan. and a VERY nice dentist took them out. He saw my fingers with the death grip on the arm of the chair just talking to him durung the consult. He gave my some very nice Ativan to take before I got there, and another when I got there. I woke up walking with a nurse to the car and had to grab her because I almost fell. My mother was with me and said that I was white as a ghost. When my husband called around my area NO ONE would clean my teeth unless I was awake. I don't care for that option. Many hung up on him as soon as he asked. One asked him if I had a drug dependence---uuuuhhhhh, No!!!! Just Scared out of my wits!!!!!!!!!! Bob D. if you find a dentist that you are willing to go to, let me know! WE can schedule our appointment on the same day and Steph and Ryan can hold our hands! Nancy, you are in my thoughts!

I know the feeling Nancy. I had a tooth extracted last year, a molar. It started with a root canal on a Friday and another one on Saturday (same dentist) and with a different dentist on Monday. The tooth hurt too much for the oral surgeon to extract it so I had to wait a week and go back to the oral surgeon at which time I was put to sleep. I don't like going to the dentist anymore. Not that I ever did like to go to a dentist. I won't go back to the first dentist ever. I've had pain but not like that pain. I hope you are ok now.

Included in the medical checkups when leaving the USMC was the dentist. Upon completion of the check up the Dentist sent me to another. After a short wait, I was seated and informed that I was about to have all my teeth pulled. The reasons given, were that they would all have to come out eventually because of all the fillings, and problems that they found. It was the first time I ever argued with an officer. I said no way. My motivation was pure fear. Well that was 45 years ago, and I still have my teeth. Dentistry, just 45 years ago was still in the dark ages compared to today. Many of my pals didn't argue, and lost their teeth. I do fear that I too will soon have to decide on store bought ones though. Tom H
