First establish volume . A cylinder 18 inch Dia 15 inches long yeilds 3817 cu inches
Second a board ft is 144 cu inches 12x12x1
3817 / 144 = 26.5 board ft.
Cherry is selling in the rough , dried and cut at 4.16 cents a board ft. So I would say if your looking to sell it maybe 1.50 a board foot green uncut so about 40.00 if your lucky and it is a very figured burl. If it was dried with very minor cracks , cleaned and rough blocked maybe 60 - 80
I have a question that may seem strange to some... but an answer can shed a lot of light on trees in the forests around my home...
There's a very large White Oak close to the driveway that has a growth that resembles a wart on a person, about 36" in dia... I've heard such growths called "Crown Gaul" or "Gall"... can this growth be a "burl" on a tree? This particulare tree has thirteen such growths... all smaller than the large one, but there are more on other trees out there...
BURL?, OR NOT BURL?... THAT IS THE QUESTION....
