  • forum very difficult to use

when i go to community to log in etc i put t he mouse on it and then it disappears. I manage to get logged in fianlly but then when i want to see the most recent messages, I can t get the drop down list under community to stay dropped down to highlight the subsection \"most recent posts\" I have tried holding down control and right clicking and lighting a candle to the virgin and can t get it to work. It must be me again because it seems like others dont have a problem. So if someone can tell me what I am doing wrong Im list ening and will check back if i can get the forum to drop down and let me in.

What Browser do you use? I\'m using Chrome and having no problems. I did a quick google search, and see that some folks using Firefox have been having problems with drop down menus.

Rick, try clicking on the \"community\" heading first, then going to the log in on the dropdown. I use Firefox and had that problem for a while, but then it seemed to cure itself. The candle can\'t hurt, either.

Re: forum very difficult to use

I figured it was just \"green\" software. The Community connections bop on and off (Login) a few times before they congeal(?) and you can get things done.

I think that the deal is that there are a bunch of wood-oriented website forums which use versions of this software. While I need a different set of pic-posting instructions for everyone, I had to weigh the merits of staying connected to this group, in particular. I can endure this for the collective wisdom of the members.

Here at 53N, I am a carving club of one. WCI took the edge off that.

I hope we get this back to comfortable. It\\\\\\\'s been awhile. I further hope that the SSW&C doesn\\\\\\\'t follow this way anytime soon. Sorry to say that WCI is dropping from my normal routine. I want to see New s. P O S T S

I am using chrome but it works better if I use bing. And it is maddening to try and get that drop down thing to work properly. And it doesn\'t seem to want to sort itself out for me. If this keeps up I will have to drop wci because it frankly has become too big of a pain to use. Hate to I might add. Whoever has designed this software should have left well enough alone

              Rick:
Do not worry about the drop down for the most recent message. The Search feature is still not working, so New s and Todays s will not work either. Just look at the date of the last post for each forum. If it says today, then it is a recent one, if it has a date of last week some time, then it isn\'t.

As much as I hate to say it, if this site does not get fixed I fear it will lose what remaining base of users it has. I love this forum, but now it is just awful. My friends list is wiped as well as all my saved pm\'s which was a big loss to me, it had a lot of info that I wanted to keep.

Seems lie nothing has changed(improved) in the last month or so. Is anyone working on this site?

Re: forum very difficult to use

I was finally able to log into this site after months of trying. I find that I can\'t view any pictures that are over a month old. Everytime I type something into a search bar I get a blank screen after clicking enter . The pictures that I can view, I have to right click to open or the results take me to a new window out of the forum. I have to close the new window and relog into the forum. Very aggravating. There are so many great carvers that use this form that have put a lot of effort into posting their work through the years.
It would be nice to be able to view that work again.

Re: forum very difficult to use

Any photos that were attached to message prior to around March 10 of this year can not be viewed as the techs still haven\'t figured out, or had the time, to transfer them from the old database to this new one.

The search function is not working yet, which is also why the Todays s and New s are not working. The techs know about it and are working on it.

The part of the software that allows to expand the thumbnails to a full sized photo is also not working. The work-around for this is to just right-click on the thumbnail, and then select Open In A New Window and view the photo in the new window. When done viewing, just close the new window. You will not have to re-log in if you do this.

Sometimes I cannot respond to a thread even though I am logged in at the top. it says I am not. Same goes for looking at these great carvings. Thanks everybody for posting them.

I use firefox and have problems navigating back from pictures. It works the first time then that\'s it. I agree very frustrating to use!

Hooked, I use Firefox and don\'t have that problem. Could the problem relate to settings on your computer?

I have yet to figure out how to get anything in a gallery. Some have kindly tried to give instructions as to how to do it, but drop downs, lists etc. do not seem to be the same as those giving the instructions. There are so many problems with this forum now and it\'s use is very difficult. May fleas infest the armpits of those that damaged the old WCI site.
