  • Hello from Nebraska

Hello to everyone. Just started carving and my Avatar is my first two attempts at carving. Thank You Bob K and Doug Outside. I have always wanted to carve but was afraid I would just screw it up so why start! At 57 years old now I decided life is to short to be a perfectionists all the time so here I go. I am a human sponge on this Forum. "Teach me Wise One!"

Hi David and welcome to a great forum and carving resource. Your Santa's look fine and the first carving rule if to have fun and enjoy yourself. It is the most relaxing hobby I ever have found. I carve away and the next thing I know several hours have gone by.

Hello and welcome to the forum. If you click on the dark strip at the top of the page it will take you to the WCI homepage. Click on (“How To “). You will find a lot of help getting started including a section with 14 pages of patterns and tutorials as well as the great group of carvers here willing to help however the can.

I lived in SE Lincoln most of my life, then 16 years on acreage near Eagle. I was president of the CCC in 1983. Not too many of the "old" guys and gals around but next time you go to a meeting, say Hey to Chuck Bolby for me. You can't go wrong with joining a good club, like the CCC.

You live near some very good annual carving seminars, all worth while if you can find the time to attend.
