  • I just joined this group this morning

Gnome with tree (Small).jpg I have been a scroller since ~2004 been working as a test cutter for the sister magazine since 2010. I have played around with carving since my early 20's.
I do a fair amount of detail work on my Intarsia pieces and many of our local club members are amazing carvers one of which has had several articles in Wood carving illustrated. They have been encouraging me to do more carving.
I have all of the tools now I need to hone my skills. I have several Cherry carving chisels given to me by a co-worker, a set of flexcut knives, a Rampower carver, and for Christmas my wife gave me a Vortex F5 with compressor. I just happened to buy bunches of bits for this at a yard sale for 5$ without knowing what Santa would bring me.

So no lack of tools the skills are up to me. Expect lots of questions.
This piece is actually carved segmentation. The other is my first small carving Gnome with tree (Small).jpg . Wizard carving 1 (323 x 600).jpg

Welcome and nice work Rolf. I always like the "no seeums" and they are fun and mysterious to boot.

Hello Rolf and welcome to the forum. If you click on the dark strip at the top of the page that says FAQ it will take you to the WCI homepage. Click on (“How To “). You will find a section with 14 pages of patterns and tutorials. There is a great group of carvers here on the forum.
