  • Good afternoon from south central Pennsylvania

Hello to all. I'm a 41 year old guy that wished he would of found woodcarving 10 years ago. Never thought a piece of wood and a knife could give me hours of enjoyment. I'm addicted... only been carving for 6 months.

Looking forward to getting to know and learning from this community.

Welcome aboard Woodie! You're not the only one that wishes they'd have found carving earlier in their life!

Welcome Woodie and it is an addictive hobby with no 12 step programs. Doug Linker and Gene Messer have some great tutorials on Youtube. Sharonmyart also has videos on making little people...seems you have done them.

Nice carvings, and it looks like you have a great start.

I also wish I had learned wood carving years ago but life and family got in the way. You have started a lot younger than me.

              Have fun!

I do this and believe Woodie you are doing great with help! Those are great examples of Folk Art. Just wish I could do likewise.
Cheers from the west coast and keep up the show.

Hello and welcome to the forum woodie. There is a great group of carvers here on the forum. They always are willing to help however they can. If you go to the dark strip at the top of this page that says FAQ, click the woodcarverillustrated.com, it will take you to the WCI homepage. Click on (How To). You will find a lot of information. In the section (projects & pattern) there are a number of pages with patterns and tutorials. I love your part of the country. We have family in the Reading.
